About Collectibles
Measuring moments is an art involving precision, geometry and balance.
A single successful timepiece involves over a thousand mechanical functions that work in perfect synchronization with one another to create a handmade masterpiece.
The creation of a genius.
The first watch in the world appeared shortly after 1500 in Germany. In the 16th century, French and Italian refugees settled in the Swiss canton of Neuchatel, perfected the art of metallurgy and moved towards watches. By the 18th century Geneva was firmly established as capital for this craft, boasting a t least a 1000 master watchmakers and several hundred apprentices.
Watches are classified according to their configuration, balance, craftsmanship, often involving precious jewels that are used on the inside and of course the aesthetic of the master creating the timepiece. Function, geometry, drive are all about the balance of motion in miniature.
