In 1986, two watchmakers trained at the Manufacture Audemars Piguet, Dominique Renaud and Giulio Papi, decided to test their wings by founding their very own company producing mechanical watches with complex movement mechanisms. Initially a general partnership company and subsequently a limited liability company, the firm developed rapidly up to the point where it was clearly necessary to seek a partner to guarantee its long-term existence. In 1992, Audemars Piguet became the majority shareholder and Renaud et Papi S.A. was renamed Audemars Piguet (Renaud et Papi) S.A. Over the years, AP RP has asserted itself as a leader in the production of extremely sophisticated timekeepers. This ongoing success has led it to considerably expand its production site on September 2003 - the surface of the new building is three times larger than before - through a futuristic architectural project characterised by an emphasis on luminosity and serenity.
